Summary: This roof consists of a multiply BUR with a Granulated Modified Bitumen Singly Ply as a top sheet. The most critical issue this roof faced was loss of protective top coating and granules thus exposing the internal woven sheet to the elements.
We designed a custom specification to replace the protective top coat that had oxidized away. One of the major concerns the hospital personnel had was the odor from this project and harm that would cause respiratory patients during this project. We used a Low Odor Silicon Product and our highly trained crews took all precautions to prevent odor penetration into the building. There was no disruption or odor penetration inside the hospital at any time during this project.
Implementation of this restoration project saved the USMD Hospital $700,000 vs. the cost of replacement.
